7 Foods That Are Better Than Botox For Your Skin

Botox is without a doubt one of the most effective treatments that you can receive to help smooth out the wrinkles from your skin. But that is not the only thing that you can do to take good care of your skin. Dr. Pirani, a Botox specialist in Toronto, has a few recommendations to help keep your skin healthy through your diet. Eating the right foods can help keep your skin youthful and beautiful. Here are foods that you should eat.

    1. Chocolate: Starting off with some good news, chocolate is good for your skin. Dark chocolate specifically contains antioxidant properties that will improve the circulation in your skin as well as helping keep it naturally hydrated. Keep in mind that you should not overeat the dark chocolate, but instead stick to eating an ounce-sized portion to prevent taking in too many calories.
    2. Pumpkin: High in beta-carotene and versatile, pumpkin is a great help to keeping your skin smooth. The beta-carotene is converted to Vitamin A by the body. Vitamin A is important for you to grow skin cells, so through eating pumpkin, you can keep your skin softer, smoother, and with fewer wrinkles.
    3. Kiwi: One of the sweetest fruits you can eat, kiwis have your entire daily allotment of Vitamin C, all within one kiwi. People who keep a diet that is high in Vitamin C have been shown to have less dry skin and fewer noticeable wrinkles. This is because Vitamin C helps with collagen synthesis, naturally keeping your skin smooth. Plus, kiwis are delicious.
    4. Fish: Fish that are high in omega-3 fats are another great food to keep your skin healthy. High-fat fish include: salmon, herring, and even the mackerel. The omega-3 fatty acids will naturally reduce inflammation throughout your body, including your skin. These fish also have a lot of Vitamin E, an essential vitamin for the skin.
    5. Green tea: Green tea, not black tea, has been shown to help keep skin elastic and smooth when it is consumed every day. Green tea has polyphenols, which can help the human body in a variety of ways, including the skin. The polyphenols help interest the blood flow and the oxygen to your skin, keeping your skin smoother and clearer.
    6. Kale: Kale doesn’t always have the best reputation taste-wise, but you cannot deny the great benefits that come along with eating it. To begin with, kale has a lot of Vitamin A and Vitamin C in it, both of which are great for your skin. Kale also contains lutein and zeaxanthin, which will naturally absorb damaging rays from the sun, helping protect you from sun damage.
    7. Walnuts: Step aside almonds, walnuts are on the menu. Walnuts are actually the only type of nuts that has a good amount of omega-3 fatty acids in it. Just like fish, walnuts will help reduce dry skin and inflammation throughout your face and body.

While eating a healthy and balanced diet does wonders for both your skin and your body, you might still want to try Botox in areas that are not easily smoothed out. Ultimately, you should eat plenty of healthy, vitamin-rich foods and you will see a difference not only in your skin, but in your whole body.
